The thermal print head has a head unit (3) mounted on an arm (2) that is pivot mounted on a fixed spindle. A second arm or lever (7) is also mounted on the spindle and a coil spring applies a contact force. The contact force is dependent upon the rotary position of a eccentric roller (16), with the lever held in position by a second spring. By turning the eccentric, the load is released and lever system ultimately becomes free to be displaced such that the thermal head surface is accessible. For this the tip (17) of the lever moves clear of the roller. USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides ease of access to thermal head for servicing.
