The invention relates to a device for heating fluid, comprising a pipe (1) in which this fluid circulates. This pipe (1) consists of at least one electrically conducting straight portion (1a) through which flows an electric current producing Joule heating of the pipe and hence heating of the fluid. This device incorporates connecting clamps (4) for connecting clamps to the electrical supply. The positions at which the connection clamps are fixed along this straight portion (1a) can be adjusted so that, for a given electrical supply power, the specific power dissipated by the pipe (1) can be varied as a function of the distance separating these connection clamps (4).
