In the repair of a gas supply pipe,a steel sleeve (18) is screwed onto an externally threaded (19) steel pipe section (20) inside the house (7) and a highly heat-resistant seal (37) is inserted between the sleeve and the end face of the steel pipe (3) on the house side. The sleeve encloses and supports a steel adaptor (15),which has longitudinal ducts and which at one end has a connection for a steel in-house pipe (16) and at the other end has a connection for a plastics pipe (9) which passes through the steel pipe longitudinally and can be connected to a mains pipe (1) outside the house (6). ADVANTAGE - Low-cost laying of plastics pipelines between the mains and house connections.
