PURPOSE:To generate a boldface italic character according to a normal character. CONSTITUTION:This boldface italic character generation device is equipped with an italic character generation part 1 which generates an italic character 22 which slants at a specific angle to a coordinate axis (y) when represented on plane coordinates prescribed by a coordinate axis (x) and the coordinate axis (y) according to the normal character 21. Further, this device is equipped with a boldface character generation part 2 which reduces the italic character 22, generated by the italic character generation part 1, by a constant quantity and then shifts and superposes the characters, bit by bit, at specific angles to the coordinate axes (x) and (y) respectively to the same height with the normal characters 21.
