A polymer (I) is claimed, in which methyl methacrylate (MMA) is grafted onto a crosslinked natural rubber latex (II). (2) Process for prodn. of (I) comprises producing the latex (II), incorporating theMMA into (II) and exposing the mixt. to ionising radiation. (3) A compsn. is claimed, consisting mainly of an MMA graft copolymer of a crosslinked latex (I) and an MMA graft copolymer of an uncrosslinking natural rubber latex. (II) is produced by exposing a natural rubber latex to ionising radiation in the presence of n-butyl acrylate (n-BA). (II) is produced by mixing a 30-60% rubber latex with 5 phr n-BA and irradiating with 5-20 kGy ionising radiation, then 50 pts. wt. MMA (as an emulsion in 1-2% aq. ammonia) is incorporated to give a rubber concn. of 20-30% and the mixt. is stirred for 3-4 hrs. and exposed to 5 kGy radiation (gamma-rays, X-rays, electrons, etc.).
