The dispenser has the top newspaper (7) transferred horizontally through a delivery slot (4) to the customer by a roller feed and (26). A detector (15) controls the unit. The newspaper stack is supported on a platform (5) suspended from wires (8). A vertical force is applied to the platform to ensure that the top of the stack always maintains contact with the feed roller.
