The personnel are warned with regard to clear recognition of the situation after an explosion, in particular in underground mining, by perceiving an intensive, unmistakable odorous substance in the mine-air stream. With regard to quick and clear recognition with regard to the safety of the personnel, the odorous substance is now contained in the explosion barriers provided in the mining areas at risk of explosion and is automatically released with the after-damp into the air flow upon activation of the explosion barriers (Fig. 1).
