The invention relates to a proportioning weigher having a weighing pan (scale pan) (2) and a weight measuring device (1) which determines the weight of a material on the weighing pan (2). A pump (6) pumps a liquid out of a liquid container (7) via a discharge nozzle 10 into a container on the weighing pan (2). Connected downstream of the pump (6) is a flow meter (5) which generates a first signal S1 when liquid flows through it. By means of an input device (15), it is possible to input a percent value which designates the quantity of liquid to be added via the discharge nozzle (10) to achieve a desired material-to-liquid ratio of the material (4). The measurement is subdivided into a coarse and a fine measurement. During coarse measurement, a pure volume measurement takes place which is stopped at a specific value before reaching the desired value. By means of a monitoring measurement and calculation of a correction value from the difference between the calculated desired value and the actual weight of the material 4 and the quantity of liquid already added, a possible error is minimised during the subsequent fine measurement.
