PURPOSE:To obtain an Al-Li-Ag alloy having improved workability and elongation and having furthermore improved strength and elongation by aging treatment after superplastic forming by incorporating specified amounts of Ag into an Al-Li series alloy. CONSTITUTION:By weight, 1.00 to 4.00% Li, 0.05 to 6.80% Cu, 0.08 to 0.20% Zr and 0.005 to 2.0% Ag or furthermore 0.05 to 1.80% Mg are added to Al and alloying is executed. The ingot of the Al alloy is subjected to soaking, e.g., at 530 deg.C for 24hr and thereafter subjected to precipitating treatment at 400 deg.C for 12hr. The ingot is successively forged, is thereafter subjected to precipitating treatment once more, is faced and is thereafter hot-rolled. The Al-Li-Ag alloy in which workability and elongation are improved by uniformly stabilizing the state of precipitation with the addition of Ag and furthermore having excellent strength and elongation by suitable aging treatment after superplastic forming can be obtd.
