PURPOSE:To obtain a perfusate for heart containing a perfluorocarbon compound as an active ingredient and capable of supplying oxygen to cardiac muscle without causing degeneration, necrosis, etc., of cardiac muscle, especially in a form of emulsion. CONSTITUTION:A perfluorocarbon compound (e.g. perfluorodecalin) having oxygen carrying function and low in harmful reaction to living things or proper mixture thereof is emulsified each using a high macromolecular nonionic surfactant and/or phospholipid as an emulsifier and a fatty acid compound as an emulsifying auxiliary to give an emulsion, which is then isonically prepared by a physiological aqueous solution to provide the aimed product. The above- mentioned emulsion has preferably a composition consisting of 10-50w/v% perfluorocarbon compound, 2-5w/v% emulsifier and 0.004-0.1w/v% emulsifying auxiliary. The dose is 100-200ml/adult once, when the perfluorocarbon compound is contained in the emulsion at an amount of 10-50w/v%.
