The snuff-box with a mechanical singing bird has a folding rotating mechanism which moves the bird (30) inside the box when the lid is closed. The lid acts on levers which actuate a sequence of mechanical elements which first rotate the bird into its correct position and then fold it sideways so that it lies correctly under the lid. The same levers operate an oscillating element which stops the rotation of the bird as it is being folded, so that any movement of the lid, even accidental movement avoids damaging the bird or its control mechanism. USE/ADVANTAGE - Singing bird mechanism on snuff-box lid allows lid to be closed during any point in operating cycle without damage.
