PURPOSE:To enable the display and the print of a rounded character easy to recognize, by expressing character pattern information of a graphic display, or an XY plotter, adding circular arc information other than straight line information. CONSTITUTION:A character pattern is generated by combining the straight line instruction and the circular arc instruction of a graphic operation instruction, and the straight line instruction and a box instruction, etc., having the circular arc instruction on its corner, and the straight line instruction, etc., having the circular arc instruction at its end, then it is set as a character pattern dictionary. By constituting a system so that a graphic instruction group is interposed between the character pattern dictionary, and a display/print mechanism, the large capacity of storing and recording area is made unnecessary, and the rounded character easy to recognize can be displayed and printed.
