The containers for the goods to be transported are designed as body units for the road vehicles and the goods wagons and have on the underside of the base assemblies profiles disposed laterally to the transport direction which engage during loading and unloading with the roller trains of the road vehicles and the goods wagons which are disposed laterally to the transport direction or travel direction. The goods wagons are marshalled into non-shunting transport groups onto which the loading and unloading takes place via one supply assembly and at least one accumulator assembly, which also have roller trains. The combined rail and road transportation of passenger cars also takes place according to the principle of transverse loading. For this purpose the goods wagons have guide profiles for the wheels of the passenger cars transversely to the direction of travel.
