METHOD FOR REMOVING SCALE OF SUS304 STAINLESS STEEL

PURPOSE:To dissolve only a scale layer in good efficiency, by a method wherein a steel material having scale of which the inner layer comprises corundum type oxide and the outer layer comprises spinel type oxide is electrolyzed in an electrolyte comprising NaCl or KCl at low current density by using said steel material as an anode and the resulting treated steel material is subsequently electrolyzed in an electrolyte comprising NaNO3. CONSTITUTION:SUS304 stainless steel after annealing has scale with a two-layered structure of which the inner layer comprises corundum type oxide and the outer layer comprises spinel type oxide. This stainless steel 4 and a cathode 6 are inserted into an electrolytic tank 2 accomodating an electrolyte comprising an aqueous solution containing NaCl or KCl and electrolytic descaling is carried out at low current density preventing the formation of pit on the surface thereof by using the stainless steel 4 as an anode. Subsequently, the electrolyte 3 is replaced with an aqueous NaNO3 solution to carry out electrolytic descaling similarily.
