A catheter for infusion of a solution in the centre of a vein, a so-called catacatheter, has the open end of the conventional catheter replaced by a closed end. After a short distance, acting as a spacer from the vein wall, pairs of diametrally opposed holes are arranged with a certain spacing. The dead end is filled with a material which produces a contrast for X-rays. This prevents damage to the vein wall by the infusion solution and mixes the solution with the circulating blood more uniformly and quicker.
