The image splitter is set behind the main optical system of the camera and provides two congruent images adjacent to each other. Each image can be treated with filters in such a way that selected parts of the image are recorded in detail. The double negative is illuminated in a similar manner in the enlarger to prepare a composite image with optimum contrast and detail over the whole frame. The system can provide fine detail in a background whose illumination is considerably different to that of the main subject. The subject is highlighted on one image and the background on the other. The recombined image has max. detail over the whole frame.
