TUNABLE 16 MICRON COHERENT SOURCE INCLUDINGPARAHYDROGEN RAMAN TRANSITION AND METHODAbstractA coherent tunable narrow band IR source in the vicin-ity of 16 um is achieved by four-wave parametricmixing in parahydrogen. A pair of colinear laser beams,one from a narrow band CO2 laser, and a second from amultiline laser with output of wave number signifi-cantly below 14,400 cm.-1, is focused in a parahydrogencontaining cell. The multi-line laser beam drives aRaman process in the cell. The narrow band CO2 inputbeam mixes with this driver beam and the Stokes waveresulting from the Raman process to produce a 16 umoutput beam. Tuning of the CO2 laser allows tuning ofthe 16 um radiation emitted by the parahydrogen cell.YO978-025
