PURPOSE:To edit and proofread documents through literary expression by displaying a proofreading formant on a CRT screen and by providing a P display field, a function-kind display field, an original part before proofreading, etc., in the screen. CONSTITUTION:A proofreading format 60 is displayed in a CRT screen, wherein while proper sectioning lines 61 run, a P display field 62, a function-kind display field 63, an original part 64 before proofreading, a deleted document part 65, a newly inserted document part, its X-Y position display field 66, and a fixed display field 67 are formed. In the field 67, a point display part 71, a page display part, etc., are provided, and when the display part 71 is inserted at a new position as a block as a result of the starting and ending of block movement, and corrections, its starting position is displayed. Consequently, the document is edited and proofread throgh literary expression on the basis of the format 60.
