The soluble phase of goat's milk, complete with its bifidogen factors, is used as the main ingredient of two series of foods. The first series is for feeding a baby during the first few weeks of life and the second series is for feeding the infant through succeeding months. The first series is prepd. by adding to the main ingredient prods. sepd. from goat's milk which may be whole milk, or (partly) skimmed. These prods. are subjected to physical, chemical, bacterial and enzymic treatment as desired. The second series is prepd. by adding to the main ingredient prods. sepd. from cow's milk. These may be pretreated in the same ways as in the first series. Used to provide milk foods for babies from birth. The foods are also suitable for invalids, old people and those allergic to cow's milk. The retention of bifidogeb factors in the main ingredient provides prods. simulating human milk better than cows milk prods. The second series of foods utilises a proportion of cow's milk elements because goat's milk supplies can only satisfy essential demands i.e. first series.
