An attachment to a ski boot enables the skier to negotiate difficult slopes without the danger of side slipping. The attachment(1) is a plate with turned down edges(2). These have teeth(3) so that it fits over the width of the ski and the teeth(3) bite into the snow or ice covered surface. The attachment has loops(4) at each corner for straps for fixing to the boot and a U-shaped loop (9) fits into a groove in the heel of the boot. The horizontal surface has holes to reduce weight and the sides(2) have rows of holes to get rid of any snow. The attachment can also be worn without skis when climbing ice covered slopes.
