摘要
Lignin and cellulose are recovered from hardwood, e.g. beech and birch, by (a) organic solvent extn. of the solid residue obtd. by digesting hardwood in 2 steps: (1) with a 4(0.5-2) wt % concn. alkali hydroxide soln. and (2) with inorganic acid, and concentrating the organic soln. to recover lignin, and (b) recovering cellulose by treating residue from step (a) with alkali chlorite soln. and then (c) treating with alkali hydroxide soln. at raised temp. The reactive non-polymerised, thermoplastic lignin obtd. can be used as raw matl. for dyes and pesticides. Cellulose obtd. is white. The process allows the complete utilisation of the starting matl.
