The record player deck has a rotating turntable on which is a support sheet for the record, made from soft or pliable material. A device for preventing static build-up on the record comprises a conductor which is embedded in the support sheet so as to contact the underneath of the record. Alternatively conductive particles may be embedded in the material of the support sheets e.g. carbon particles embedded in a plastics or rubber support sheet. An earthing electrode may be positioned on the bottom of the support sheet.
