1486938 Mobile ovens SWEETHEART PLASTICS Inc 11 Dec 1974 [9 May 1974] 53552/74 Heading F4W [Also in Divisions B7 and H5] Mobile apparatus for use in delivering prepared meals to diverse locations such as hospital beds and for maintaining the food warm, comprises a wheeled cart 10 in which compartments 20, 22, 24 are defined by the exterior panels of the cart and by partitions, each compartment having a plurality of traysupporting racks 26 therein on each of which a tray is removably located. Each tray 100, Fig. 4, is made of thermally insulating material but it has two heaters 104, 106 exposed in its upper surface in order that two selected dishes located on those heaters can be heated while other dishes on the tray are not heated, the heaters 104, 106 respectively comprising an aluminium disc (124), 132, Fig. 3 (not shown), which is bonded to the upper surface of the tray at a respective opening therein and PTC pellets 128, three in the case of heater 104 and one for heater 106, which are bonded to the underside of the associated aluminium disc, the PTC pellets being connected by electrical conductors 116, 116SP1/SP, 116SP11/SP which extend through a cavity in the tray to electrical contact rivets 117 which are exposed adjacent to an edge of the tray. The cavity referred to is formed between the tray's top surface and a base 114 secured thereto. The cart 10 has a selfcontained source of electrical power and when the trays are inserted into the cart racks 26 the tray rivets 117 contact respective terminals (136) located in the cart at the rear of each rack 26, Fig. 9 (not shown), so that electricity is transmitted to the pellets 128 thereby providing heat to the dishes located on the heaters 104, 106 of each tray. Each tray has an upturned rim 102, and a bead (112, 113) surrounds the aluminium discs (124, 132) respectively, Fig. 3 (not shown), in order to assist the positioning and retention of a dish relative to the heaters 104, 106. Instead of the PTC pellets resistance heaters in combination with thermostats may be used.
