Filter is of the type in which hydraulic fluid pressure on the outside of an impervious rubber sleeve is used to compress suspension between the inside of the sleeve and a coaxial, perforated filter tube into which filtrate is driven, leaving a filter cake of annular cross-section between tube and sleeve. The filter housing has a hinged closure plate at one end which swings clear to permit discharge of filter cake, ejection being assisted by compressed air pulses passed to the inside of the perforated tube.
