Anionically modified synthetic fibres, esp. polyacrylonitile fibres (but also polamide, polyester) are dyed in presence of 0.3-4 wt.% of textile material and an anionic surfactant as levelling agent, contg. a Si-org. hydrophobic residue (the number of anionic surfactant equivs. w.r.t. dyestuff used must be is not the number of dyestuff cation equivs., pref. 15-50-fold excess). The process avoids risk of dihomogeneous dyeing, is technologically reliable, reproducible and simple, having easy control of dyeing operation esp. in the critical range between 80 degrees C and boiling temp.
