摘要
Wire contg. a core is prepd. by drawing a blank consisting of a tubular sleeve contg. =1 spiral cores of wire. Both ends of the spiral wire core(s) are bonded to the ends of the tubular sleeve to prevent their mutual displacement during drawing; and the composite assembly is drawn the core(s) form a straight wire or a straight bundle of wires but without any redn. in the cross-section area of the core wire(s). - The outer dia. of the spiral core(s) is pref. =1/3 of the dia. of the tubular sleeve when the spiral(s) and the sleeve are the same length. After drawing as described above, further drawing operations which compact and/or reduce the cross-section area of the core wires may be used. The core wire(s) may consist of ductile metals; metals with low ductility; or nonmetals. - Used in mfg. appts. or in rocket technology, where the core wires are made of metal with very low ductility and are placed in a ductile sheath to aid drawing, e.g. Mo wires in a sheath of heat resisting alloy.
