1,224,622. A.C. generators with D.C. excitation. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. 12 June, 1968 [20 June, 1967], No. 27881/68. Heading H2A. A synchronous generator comprises two part-circuits 23, 24 each including a rectifier arrangement connected to supply excitation direct current to a rotary field winding 12 through two separate slip rings 13, 15 or 14, 16 co-operating with two separate brushes 19, 21 or 20, 22, each part-circuit having its own two brushes and slip rings whilst slip rings of the same polarity are connected together, and a current regulating system 29 which is common to both part-circuits and by differing currents therein is actuated to equalize such currents. In the embodiment shown, which is in fact 3-phase, the arrangements are bridges 25, 26 of diodes 27, the system comprises a differential current transformer 30 connected to a current transformer 32 in either part-circuit, and the supply is from either a transformer 18 regulated by variable resistor 28 or a 3-phase generator regulated on its excitation side. In Fig. 2, the bridges are of thyristors (33) providing via a voltage regulator (38) both the generator voltage regulating and the current equalization; the latter is effected by a regulating element (37) supplied by either D.C. converters (35, 36) or current transformers (39,40).
