PICT:0756478/IV(a)/1 A spinneret suitable for melt-spinning artificial filaments comprises a plurality of series of orifices, the orifices of each series being situated on arcs A1, A2, &c. which diverge from a median line X of the spinneret. The arcs are so spaced from each other, and the orifices so spaced along these arcs, that the neatest adjacent orifices on the same and neighbouring arcs are situated substantially equidistantly from each other, and the number of orifices in each series is so chosen that the outermost orifices of all the series lie equidistantly around the circumference of a circle C. The design is also such that the arcs decrease in radius successively from the median line. If desired, a series of equidistantly spaced orifices may also be disposed along the median line itself.
