Steering by paddle-whels.-In an eroder vessel propelled by a paddle-wheel h, the driving side of the paddle wheel is affixed to a short shaft s upon which is fitted a universal joint t and at the - other side is an arcuate mounting u for a nut v into which is threaded the shaft w of the steering wheel x, the steering of the vessel being thus effected by moving the propeller horizontally by its shaft about the joint t in either direction.
