2869. Vandam, A., and Marsh, T. H. Feb. 4. Cut - outs. - Relates to an arrangement of fuses, so that, when one blows, a second is inserted in the circuit. Fig. 1 shows one arrangement. Two fuses 3, 4 are connected to a terminal 2, and the other end of 3 is connected to a bent arm 8, 10 pivoted at 5, and connected to the second terminal 6. A spring tends to turn the lever 8 clockwise, and, when the fuse blows, the arm swings round, and the portion 10 engages with a contact 9, so cutting-in the second fuse 4.
