Ventilating ships; hulls. -Consists in the application of open-ended conduits to enclosed spaces in such a way that @@@@@ of varying pressure are put into communication with each other. The invention is applicable in general to plants in which free gases or liquids are subjected to different pressures at different places, as for instance in the ventilation of ships' stoke-holds, or of air around ships. As regards the ventilation of stoke-holds, Fig. 4 shows the arrangement of tubes. The air enters by one of the hooded openings u and escapes by another o1. Pipes connect together spaces in the hold. As regards the hull of the ship, the tubes connecting different portions of the water surrounding the ship are shown in Fig. 26 at a, b, c, d.
