PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system capable of remote monitoring of an elevator in a state where a signal output from a control microcomputer cannot be transmitted to an external terminal, and a general-purpose wireless terminal used in this remote monitoring system. A remote monitoring system 1 is configured to be able to connect to a monitoring terminal 2 connected to a public line via wireless communication and to a control microcomputer 40 of an elevator 4. It includes an information terminal 3 that converts a signal from 40 into a signal matched to the monitoring terminal 2 and outputs the signal, and also converts a signal from the monitoring terminal 2 into a signal matched to the control microcomputer 40 and outputs the signal.
