PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-absorbent resin particles capable of increasing the amount of absorption of an absorber under pressure. SOLUTION: The water-absorbent resin particles 10a having an expansion retention rate of 98% or more calculated by the formula: expansion retention rate (%) = (V 1 / V 0) × 100 are disclosed. V 0 is the volume of the swollen gel formed when 1.000 ± 0.001 g of the water-absorbent resin particles 10a absorbs 20.0 ± 0.1 g of pure water. V 1 is the volume of the swollen gel formed when 1.000 ± 0.001 g of the water-absorbent resin particles 10a absorbs 20.0 ± 0.1 g of physiological saline. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
