System (1) for controlling the supply of electricity to a multitude of filament lamps (10) fitted in a multitude of cylinders (CY) of a diesel engine (2) by switching on and off switches (301) between an energy supply (4) and the filament lamps respectively, based on a control failure signal from an engine control device which controls the engine, the system having:a variety of light bulb control devices (100) which control the supply of electricity to the light bulbs accordingly;a first path (WIRSI) connecting the engine control gear and the filament lamp control gear, with the control failure signal passing through the first path,with each of the filament lamp controls:a control unit which switches an appropriate control element based on the control failure signal;a self-diagnostic unit which, by itself, detects a malfunction occurring in the corresponding filament lamp and emits a diagnostic signal indicating the malfunction; anda unit of destination defining a position of one of the cylinders corresponding to one of the lighter control devices, indicating the position as a position under the cylinders,where the unit of destination has:a resistance element (122, 127; 122b; 122c) which is positioned on the first path and provides the unit of destination with modifications of an electrical potential, so that the unit of destinationthe changes used to determine the position of the corresponding cylinder;a variety of resistors (122, 127) with predetermined resistance values, the number of resistors being a resistor conductor circuit that produces a voltage value and a voltage differential at a predetermined position of the resistor conductor circuit; anda device for determining the position of the corresponding cylinder based on the voltage value and the voltage differential.
