The invention relates to a method of surveillance with the PTZ camera of an autonomous flying drone of an area to be monitored having a part bordered by a prohibited area of surveillance. The method comprises: a) calculating the spatial coordinates on the ground of a determined area of interest of the cone of vision; b) the comparison of the spatial coordinates on the ground of the area of interest with the spatial coordinates on the ground of the area to be monitored; c) if the spatial coordinates on the ground are secant, one controls a movement of the camera on at least one of the three axes of adjustment of the camera until the spatial coordinates on the ground of the determined area of interest are included in the spatial coordinates on the ground of the area to be monitored.
