The invention relates to a valve actuating device (1) having at least one first rocker arm (6) which is pivotable between a first starting position and a first actuating position, having a valve bridge (10) that is movable between a second starting position and a second actuating position, and having a coupling device (11) that can be switched between a locked state in which, by means of movement of the first rocker arm (6) from the first starting position to the first actuating position, the valve bridge (10) is movable via the coupling device (11) by means of the first rocker arm (6) from a second starting position to a second actuating position, and an unlocked state in which, despite a movement of the first rocker arm (6) from the first starting position to the first actuating position, a movement of the valve bridge (10) from the second starting position to the second actuating position that can be effected by means of the first rocker arm (6) via the coupling device (11) stops, wherein the coupling device (11) is held on the first rocker arm (6) and can be pivoted along with the first rocker arm (6) as a result.
