Disclosed are a device and method for predicting academic achievement using a cognitive load index variable. The method for predicting academic achievement includes: measuring the user's cognitive load index variable based on the user's pupil data; Analyzing the difference in the cognitive load index variable according to the problem form of each of the problems used in the learning performance measurement test; analyzing differences in cognitive load index variables according to the task complexity of each of the problems; and predicting the user's academic achievement for the learning performance measurement test by using the analysis result of the cognitive load index variable according to the problem form and the task complexity.
