The embodiments herein provide methods and systems for tracking people to enforce social distancing and provide historic contact tracing data. A method comprising detecting the proximity between one or more second wearable electronic devices and giving an alert to the user of the first wearable electronic device as well as storing and transmitting the social distance violation data to the cloud server through at least one of a gateway, one or more location sensor nodes, one or more aggregator sensor nodes and a user electronic device if the detected proximity is less than the predefined threshold. The social distancing data contains the unique ID, a timestamp, and the duration of the violation information of the one or more second electronic devices that was in proximity. Further, the cloud server processes the social distancing data to generate necessary insights. The generated necessary insights are available to be seen through an electronic dashboard to get insights regarding contact tracing if in case any user who is using the first wearable electronic device is found to be covid positive.
