The utility model makes it possible to prove experimentally that rays reflected from the inner surface of the film play an important role in the formation of an interference pattern in a thin film. The device is a tube with a piston connected to a rod that allows you to controllably move the piston inside the tube from its lower end (with the tube in a vertical position) to its upper end, hermetically sealed with a food film that can be stretched under the action of air compressed by the piston to form a bubble with an interference pattern on the surface, while part of the air space between the piston and the film is filled with liquid, the refractive index of which is close to the refractive index of the film, and the volume is equal to the volume of the formed bubble. When the device is turned over by 180°, the bubble is filled with liquid, the intensity of the rays reflected from the interface between the film and liquid drops sharply, and the interference pattern disappears. When the device is returned to its original position, the interference pattern reappears. The device is intended, first of all, for the frontal work of students and makes it possible for a collective discussion of the observed phenomenon.
