A hydration-resistant MgO-CaO clinker was prepared using natural raw materials and additives. The synthesized material is especially characterized by its excellent hydration-resistance as the clinker did not show any hydration after storing in the open air at room temperature for 1 year. The bricks containing the water-resistant MgO-CaO clinker have been successfully used in refining furnaces and exhibited better performance than typical MgO-C bricks. The bricks containing this clinker could be used in cement rotary kilns due to the easy coating formation and an environmentally friendly substitute for magnesia-chromite bricks for cement rotary kilns.
