The binding toβ -cyclodextrin (β-CD) and hydroxypropyl- β-cyclodextrin (HPB) of two Schiff bases (2-hydroxy-benzyliden-aminobenzoic acid (Ⅰ) and 2-hydroxy-naftyliden-aminobcnzoic acid (Ⅱ) and two steroid derivatives of these Schiff basts (2-hydroxy-benzyliden-amino cholesteryl-benzoate (Ⅲ) and stosteryl-2-hydroxy-naftyliden-aminobenzoate (Ⅳ) have been studied by solubility method, UV-Vis absorplion and thermal analysts (DSC). Phase solubility diagrams could be categorized as B type for each compound, For the study of solid state interaction of each guest compound with cyclodextrin host, the complexes were prepared by solvent evaporation method. DSC diagrams of pure compounds and corresponding complexes showed that the inclusion interactions were accompanied by the disappearance or by the shift of endothermal peaks to higher temperatures. The addition of β-CD and HPB to the solutions of these compounds involves a bathochromic effects and the appearance of another absorption peak for the compounds Ⅰ and Ⅱ. corresponding to inclusion complexes.
