New Pin Puller as well as Hold Down and ReleasernMechanism (HDRM) for space applications have beenrndeveloped as an alternative to current devices. Therntemperature restriction is one of their most criticalrnlimitations. The new deployment mechanisms are ablernto work in a wider range of temperatures, such as from -rn90oC to +125oC and under vacuum conditions.rnThe proposed mechanisms are triggered by an SMArnactuator, substituting the pyrotechnic actuators. The usernof Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) substitutingrnpyrotechnic elements provides a number of advantages,rnsuch as the minimization of shock; reduction of safetyrnmeasurements; the possibility to perform activation testsrnrepeatedly; and weight reduction.rnTwo different Pin Pullers will be presented in this work,rnwith different output forces: 100N and 500N. Builtrnmodels of both mechanisms have been tested. Arnpreliminary design of a new HDRM, called REACTrn(Resettable ACTuator), and results of analyses will bernshown in this paper including a proposal forrnqualification campaign.
