@@ From the pandemic outbreak by highly pathogenic avian influenza virus, new type influenza virus and SARS virus, a risk reduction to infection disease in our living space is strongly expected. We have already reported that titanium dioxide (T1O2) thin film under UV light irradiation kills bacteria causing decomposition and disorder of the cell membranes [1,2]. However, to reduce the risk of infection by pathogenic microorganisms in living environment, it is required on the antibacterial and antiviral material to work effectively under indoor light or dark condition. Previously, we have shown that copper-deposited TiO2 film can inactivate bacteria even under weak UV light irradiation at a typical UV.
