Advantages in function and manufacturing can be obtained by application of new materials in producing combustion engines. This is true in general in case of AlSi-materials and in particular for Silitec. The adaptation of machining processes to this material is a special challenge for the manufacturing technology. The honing process applying super hard and conventional abrasives can fulfill the demands of modern series production regarding quality and quantity.
