Both active suspension and slip control can influence the vehicle lateral dynamics to a certain extent. Active suspension can distribute the forces on the vehicle in an efficient manner, but the potential to influence the vehicle dynamics is relatively low. Slip control can generate very high yaw moments on the vehicle, but the concept of actuation has strong cross-coupling to the longitudinal dynamics of the vehicle. By combining active suspension with slip control into an integrated control concept, the advantages of both systems can be exploited and thereby improve the performance of the vehicle dynamics control functionality.
