Compact separation has been a “buzz” word in design of newrnfacilities for many years now as more reserves are beingrnlocated in deeper waters. However, upgrading existingrnfacilities to handle more production is also important. Thirdrnparty processing, under-estimated reserves, or recently locatedrnnearby reserves result in higher rates. Space then becomes arnpremium especially in the deep water facilities where extrarnspace may have been minimal in the design. This paper willrndiscuss some new and proven technology not only for compactrnseparation, but also for increasing gas/liquid separationrncapacities of existing vessels. Applications of therntechnologies will also be presented.
