The present study compares the visual tracking in reading of low vision and normal vision students attending second and third grade of Basic school in Portugal, aged between ten and fifteen years old.rnTwenty four students (twelve with low vision and twelve with normal vision) participated in the study. They were asked to read one small, one medium and one long Portuguese common and uncommon words presented in a computer screen. The student's ocular movements were registered using the ASL - 504 Eye Tracking system.rnSome results are presented with regard to the differences between the two groups in relation to fixation time, the number of fixations, number of regression movements, saccadic length and durations of saccades. Significant differences were observed concerning length and durations of saccades in words with 5 letters. The number of fixations and regressions in words with 9 and 12 letters had also significant differences. These differences are analysed in order to establish better teaching strategies for Low Vision Students.
