Blood pressure is an important vital sign of the human body. It is generally monitored using intravenous or cuff-based devices, both of which have their own drawbacks. Continuous and non-invasive blood pressure has significant clinical value however the measurement devices are generally costly and complicated to setup and operate especially in home-based environment. This paper investigates state of the art techniques that utilise one or more photoplethysmographs (PPG) to produce a device that continuously and non-invasively monitors a patient's blood pressure. Three different estimation methodologies are reviewed and compared in this paper.
