Using the C-18 column modified in-house with polyethylene glycol allowed separation of ~(99m)Tc from excess of Mo with over 80% yield. The contamination of ~(99m)Tc with molybdenum and with PEG was lower than 0.01%. Although the separation yield was high, around 20 mL of water were needed to elute ~(99m)Tc, which might limit its further use and hence the post-elution concentration might be required.
