Polymer flooding as an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is used to shut off excess water in producing wells by controlling mobility ratio through water flooding and increasing sweep efficiency of reservoir oil during flooding. Today partial hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) is the only known polymer that is used in order to decrease water/oil mobility ratio at world oil reservoirs. But salinity has a draw back on HP AM during flooding and reduces their helpfulness; it is believed most polymers will be decomposed in high temperature and so miss their applicability. So reservoirs with temperature higher than 300°F should usually be avoided for using HP AM because it loses their viscosity property at that temperature .hi this study we investigated the green algae as natural polymer to increase water viscosity. Our studies show that although the viscosity property of algae solution is less than HP AM solution, but as a natural polymer has a good ability against high salinity up to 200000 ppm and high temperature up to 200 ° C, and it is very economically sound for EOR process.
